The School of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences is an academic unit tasked with educating health and allied healthcare providers at all levels — from certificate and diploma to bachelor and postgraduate degrees.

Our aim is to produce comprehensive healthcare professionals who are knowledgeable, competent, skilful and up-to-date, following evidence-based procedures and ethical guidelines.

Institutional Objectives

  • Train general duty medical doctors with broad knowledge of common human diseases, particularly tropical diseases
  • Produce doctors with skills to manage and deliver preventive and curative health services
  • Develop entrepreneurial competencies through critical thinking and problem-solving
  • Develop training and research capacity
  • Promote ethical medical practice
  • Develop ICT skills for training lower-cadre health practitioners in remote areas
